Domain Names

A domain name is the address for your website. Your web address is how your customers can find your website on the internet. Websites are hosted on a web server. A domain name is what connects your website to that server. Every domain has to be unique so that the web server knows where to point the user to. You can check available domain names using our domain name checker at
https://www.aklwebhost.com/domain-names

Domain names are made up of the domain extension or TLD (top-level domain) and the customer defined domain part (the ‘example’ part of ‘example.com’). When someone tries to access your website by typing in ‘example.com’ the DNS server will locate its IP address by first going to the group of .com domains, and then searching for the .com domain labelled ‘example’ to find your website.

If you want to add a blog or a shop to your website you can create a subdomain, e.g. shop.example.com or blog.example.com.

Domain extensions or TLDs are categorised into groups. The original gTLDs (generic top-level domains) included .com, .org, .net, and .gov, and over time the list was expanded to include ccTLDs (country code top-level domains) like .uk, as well as more specific geographic domains like .london, .wales and .scot.

The list of gTLDs has grown to include professional domain extensions like .photography, .restaurant and .shop, as well as new TLDs like .ninja, .lol and .love.

Different extensions suit different purposes. For example, if your website is aimed at a UK audience, it makes sense to choose a .co.uk domain. If you want your website to have international exposure, consider registering the same domain name with .eu and .com extensions. Securing your domains with as many available extensions as possible is the best way to reach the widest audience.

Prices for a domain name can vary based on the extension. At AKLWEB HOST we offer competitive, cheap domain name prices starting from $1. You can check domain name prices at https://www.aklwebhost.com/domain-names

Web Hosting

Once you purchase a Unlimited Web Hosting plan, AKLWEB HOST stores your site on one of our servers and assigns it a unique DNS. The DNS serves as the address that allows people around the world to find and view your website. This unique address is required in order for people to view your site. By purchasing a website hosting package, you’re basically buying space on one of our servers. It’s similar to the space on a computer’s hard drive, but the server allows your website’s files to be accessed from anywhere.

You can build your website in several different ways – from hand-coding with HTML to using a website builder program. If you require a lot of functionality and versatility from your website, you’ll benefit from programs and applications that can help you build your site. Our Web hosting plans give you access to free, server-side applications that can be used to develop and customize your website, including popular Content Management System (CMS) applications like WordPress® and Joomla!®. We try to make building your website as simple as possible. If you prefer to use popular Web design software such as Adobe Dreamweaver®, Microsoft Expression®, and Apple iWeb, you can easily upload your files to your AKLWEB HOST hosting account.

Knowing a bit about FTP does help, as it is the easiest way to upload your site to your hosting package. However, the applications included in your plan, along with the user-friendly control panel make it easy to get your website online. We also have a huge support database with plenty of step-by-step articles and videos to help you along the way.

We go above and beyond to keep our systems safe from hacking, hardware failures, software failures, and physical damage. All our servers are located in our own highly secure data center, which is based in the UK & USA. Access to the servers is tightly controlled and limited to just essential personnel. Power is drawn from the National Grid through two different sources, and we also have uninterruptible power supplies as well as on-site generators just in case. Along with our physical security measures, you can also take peace of mind by knowing that all your data is kept safe behind a secure firewall with multiple layers of protection. We have regular backups of all the data on our servers and store copies of the data off-site, so even if the worst occurs, your data will still be there.

If you’ve built your website in a HTML editor, like Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Studio, you have to upload your website files via FTP (File Transfer Protocol). We have a built-in FTP File Manager that you can access in our Hosting Control Center. However, if your files are larger than 20 MB, we recommend using the tool FileZilla, which works with Windows®, Mac®, and Linux® operating systems, or another third-party FTP client.

Reseller Hosting

Reseller hosting offers you the opportunity to set up your own web hosting business, design firm, agency or IT company— all under your own brand name. When you sign up for a reseller hosting account, you purchase an amount of disk space and bandwidth, which you may then divvy up and ‘resell’ to your own clients. You choose the account limits, space, and price you want to offer your clients – in other words, you’re in control! Reseller hosting offers a number of benefits. If you are a web developer, you can host all of your own websites under one reseller account. You can sell web hosting services to your own client base. You can give web hosting accounts away to friends and family. A reseller account works in a number of different scenarios. With reseller hosting, you really can operate a web hosting business without investing in expensive infrastructure, servers, bandwidth, and IT staff. It’s a great way to make a profit with relatively little risk or financial outlay!

After you select and purchase your reseller account, you will have access to Plesk or cPanel Web Host Manager, which is your centralized reseller control panel. Through this interface, you will be able to easily create and manage packages for your clients. Your clients will have access to a Plesk user control panel of their own, through which they can create and maintain their own websites and email. AKLWEB HOST provides all resellers with an excellent startup guide, which will walk you through the steps involved in setting up your account. And our Papa squad support team is here for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

You can host an unlimited number of domains, for as many clients as you’d like. The only limitation comes from the amount of disk space and bandwidth you have purchased with your reseller account. Individual account sizes and limits will be up to you to manage. If you need more space or bandwidth at any time, simply contact us to upgrade your account.

Not at all. You can add your own branding and position yourself as your own web hosting service provider, design firm or agency. In fact, your clients need never know that you are a AKLWEB HOST customer. You may do this by specifying your own domain for the private nameservers.

As a reseller, you provide support for your clients. You are responsible for all communications between yourself and your hosting clients – you are, after all, the business owner! You will have the ability to build your website, set up your plans and pricing, install scripts, and fix certain aspects of your clients’ sites. Of course, AKLWEB HOST support is available, 24/7 to support you, the reseller. You may contact us any time for high-level technical or server issues. AKLWEB HOST is responsible for providing you with the disk space, bandwidth, and features you need to resell, and we are always happy to help you with issues related to these items.

VPS Servers

If you’re outgrowing your shared web hosting or simply want more control, a managed or fully managed Virtual Private Server (VPS) is the next logical choice for your hosting needs. It gives you more freedom with root access to Apache and PHP, plus you can install an SSL certificate, as well as any type of software – all without the responsibility of a dedicated server. On a shared server, you rely on the performance of the platform provided. By choosing VPS, you get to select a configuration best suited for your applications, requirements and growth.

A Virtual Private Server allows you to host sites (storefront, e-commerce, content, media) and software applications (primarily web: portal, extranet, collaborative solutions, wiki, CRM) with ease. Unlike shared hosting, VPS hosting makes it possible to isolate multiple applications from one another within the same container. While this VPS container shares physical resources (infrastructure) with other containers, its resources are dedicated to you.

Unlike a regular shared hosting account, each virtual private server has its dedicated slice of the RAM, CPU, and disk space. As a result, what you do will not affect the other VPS on the machine. You can reboot the VPS anytime you want, and you will have root access. Potentially, you can configure almost anything on a virtual private server as long as you know how to do it since it provides complete resource limit management freedom. Meanwhile, a shared hosting account has certain limitations set by the hosting provider.

Think of it this way. VPS hosting is like having an apartment or a hotel room. You have your walls, doors, and a bathroom. You possess the privacy of your room and more or less can do anything you desire. Of course, the infrastructure will be shared with the other residents in the apartment building.

For comparison, a shared hosting account is like having a bed in a dormitory. You share a bathroom, common area and so on.

If you are not technical then you can use our managed service which you can order at any time & for a low monthly fee we will take care of the technical aspects & perform upgrades, security patches, etc. for you. If you have some technical skills & are able to use SSH & run some basic configuration tasks then you should not have any issues. Most of our customers will use a control panel such as cPanel which comes with cPanel WHM interface. This is the industry standard, market leading control panel for managing Linux servers.

There are a number of differences between VPS (Virtual Private Servers) and dedicated servers. We will help you make an informed decision about whether to choose a VPS or a Dedicated Server.

Virtual Private Servers (VPS)

In recent years Virtual Private Servers, or VPS for short have become more popular than dedicated servers because they offer superior performance and more control than shared hosting whilst costing less than dedicated servers.

With VPS hosting, you share a number of physical resources such as disk space CPU and RAM on a physical server even though they are allocated specifically to you, but you still enjoy the freedom of having a private server, such as having your own control panel. This way, the overall CPU and memory are shared across all accounts on the machine, but at the same time portions of those resources are always dedicated to each account

So with a virtual server you have the power and control of a dedicated server but you have the added advantage of scalability too.

Dedicated Servers

A Dedicated Server is a physical server that is reserved for your sole use. Whereas a virtual server shares hardware resources with other VPS instances, a Dedicated Server is completely isolated for your use only.

Its perfect for those who need the additional peace of mind that a secure servers brings as well as offering significant processing power for high resource demanding applications and websites. It ensures that third party activities do not affect your services.

Virtual Private Servers VS Dedicated Servers

When deciding which is the best web hosting package for you, it is important to weigh all the factors and then make the right choice for your business.

Flexibility & Scalability

Virtual Private Servers are extremely scalable with no downtime required to perform upgrades. Clients can self-provision their upgrade of hardware such as extra RAM, CPU or disk space.

On the other hand Dedicated servers do not scale the way a VPS can, especially a Cloud VPS which has huge potential for upward scaling. Dedicated servers are designed to provide a set amount of resources and the only realistic way of scaling their computing power is to add additional resources such as RAM modules or extra CPU units or even clustering the servers and balancing the load across multiple servers.

Also, it is worth noting that with a Dedicated Server you would need to over specify your requirements to take into account headroom for growth if you want to avoid downtime related to upgrades which would require an engineer to make the change.

Management & Reliability

In a VPS configuration a server is extremely reliable due to the fact that data is stored across several physical servers on the cloud.. In terms of cost this is the best option in terms of reliability and uptime.

To achieve similar reliability potential in a Dedicated Server would require additional hardware components namely additional hard drives, a RAID card to offer RAID capability and a dual power supply. This would require a physically larger, more powerful and ultimately more expensive server.

Suitability

VPS are suitable for high traffic websites, small business owners, bloggers and everyone that needs the power of a dedicated server at a lower price.

If this type of server cannot satisfy your needs due to your security requirements then a dedicated server is the best solution for you.

Security

Dedicated servers are more physically secure than VPS hosting due to the fact that you are the only client using that server. That does not negate the need to be vigilant and ensure that your server is protected and secure.

Cost

VPS are higher cost compared to shared hosting but less compared to dedicated servers. In terms of value for money a virtual private server offers a compelling business case when issues such as scalability and high availability are factored in.

Dedicated Servers

dedicated server or dedicated hosting service is a type of hosting where an individual or business rents an entire server. The server is not shared with other users. Dedicated Server is a physical server which is dedicated entirely to one client. No other websites or applications can be hosted on the server. This means that the client gets exclusive use of all of the server’s key resources, i.e. CPU, RAM and HDD. The client can install their choice of operating system (e.g. Linux, Windows) and the Distro of their choice (e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS).

The advantages of Dedicated Hosting are as follows:
1) High reliability
2) High performance
3) High level of security
4) Better IP reputation (not sharing with other websites)
5) No sharing means no noisy neighbors

Servers are mostly used to host websites. You may be hosting your site on a shared hosting server, and may be wondering if you may need to change to dedicated server. The following are factors that you should consider before making the decision.

Performance

If you are on a shared hosting plan you may have “soft” limits applied to your account by your hosting company, even if you are on an “unlimited” plan. These could be for example inode limits or through the use of commercial software such as Cloud-Linux.

The reason that hosting companies do this is to avoid “Noisy Neighbor” issues where one client could potentially affect hundreds of other clients on the same server by using too much RAM, bandwidth, etc..

The downside for you as a client is that there is a limit to the performance you can expect.

With a Dedicated Server, these types of performance issues do not apply as you have the entire server at your disposal. The only time you may have issues is if you are running heavy applications or getting higher amounts of traffic than the server is configured to handle.

However, in most everyday cases a dedicated server will address these performance issues without any problem.

Security
In case of miss-configuration in a shared hosting server, other users may read your data. Even the system administrators may read your data, even in a VPS setup. But on a dedicated server, you have sole root/administrator access, hence your data is very secure and private and no-one else can access the server.

A dedicated server is the ultimate in power, security, and control. With a dedicated server, you won’t have to share resources with anyone. Here are some of the top reasons that people choose a dedicated server over other hosting options:

Security is a top priority
If you’re running a major online business, security should be a major priority. With web hosting services that have shared resources (VPS or shared hosting) you run the risk of security breaches and attacks. A dedicated server conversely offers optimal security for your websites and any stored user information.

You expect consistently high levels of traffic
The amount of traffic coming to your website every day is an important factor in your websites’ performance. If you expect high levels of traffic daily, a dedicated server will allow your site to handle even the biggest traffic spikes.

Page load times need to be lightning fast
If your page load times are lagging you will generally experience a negative effect on the performance of your website. Visitors who come to your site will generally only wait for two or three seconds for a page to load before they leave. Avoid losing business and page visitors by hosting your website on a dedicated server where resources are abundant.

You need custom programming options
If you have custom programming needs, a dedicated server is the right option for you. Generally speaking, shared hosting serbes do not give you custom programming options, whereas a dedicated server is yours to configure however you please. You’ll have full control over your server and your hosting environment.

You’re anticipating major growth
If you have a site that will require major resources in the not too distant future, you may find it best to start out with the type of hosting you’ll need rather than trying to migrate your site to a dedicated server. Other hosting options will allow you to scale up, but there’s a limit to the amount of resources you’ll have access to.

Generally, there are three types of hosting server configurations:

1) Shared Hosting
2) Virtual Private Servers (VPS)
3) Dedicated Servers

Shared Hosting servers are servers that are shared among a number of clients. The advantage is that the hosting is available at a lower cost. The disadvantage is that all the clients share all of the server’s resources like bandwidth, CPU, etc.. With a VPS and a Dedicated Server the advantage is that the server’s key resources are available for one client only although as we shall see later in this document there are some key differences to be aware of when choosing between a VPS and a Dedicated Server.

The main benefits are as follows:

They Are More Reliable & Powerful
Dedicated Servers are both reliable and powerful as you are able to access and utilize all the resources like processor power and disk space, without any downtime owing to limited memory/RAM space or “Noisy Neighbors” utilizing more resources than they should. Up-time is increased and able to effectively and smoothly run resource-intensive applications and websites.

High Level Of Security
Since you are the only one who is allowed access to your server, then it is more secure than when sharing with other clients, whose activities may introduce security vulnerabilities. Moreover, you can deploy advanced security measures in your server, customizable to your requirements.

Lower Risk Of IP Blacklisting
As you are not sharing your IP address with other users there is less of a chance of getting your server IP address blacklisted. Blacklisting occurs when the IP of a server is associated with some kind of malicious activity (eg: Phishing, Spamming, etc.) which leads to the server being blacklisted by Internet Service Providers. This has a direct effect on things like email deliverability and can result in extra fees to get the IP blacklist removed.

Custom Administrative Access
You get root or administrative access of the server. This means there are no restrictions on either the software that you install or how it is customized. This kind of access keeps you in control of the whole server so you can monitor resource usage, identify potential threats and resolve them before they affect the whole server.

Advanced Technical Support
Most web hosting companies offer priority technical support to dedicated clients, owing to the fact that most of the clients host mission-critical computing web applications. The priority support ensures minimum downtime or disruption of the server’s applications and services. Here at AKLWEB HOST we employ professional trained experts to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and easily 24/7 365 days / year.

We know the catastrophic effects and loss of revenue that can be caused by a DDoS attack and treat server security and up-time very seriously. Each of our dedicated servers include free DDoS protection to maximize availability and prevent unexpected downtime’s from disrupting your business and revenue stream. Our DDoS protection works seamlessly to filter out malicious traffic while passing through legitimate traffic directly through your server. We offer advanced settings to customize the protection specific to your applications needs.
