Checking your FTP client’s log can help diagnose any connectivity or issues with uploading or downloading your web site. It will log every command that is executed, and the response from the server.

The following information outlines how to enable and check the log on the two most commonly used FTP programs:

FileZilla

You can display the log by clicking on View > Message Log in the menu, in the top half of your screen. You can find the portion of the log you need, and by pressing right click, you can copy the entire log to your clipboard. You can paste this into us for any further analysis in the helpdesk.

Cyberduck

You will first need to enable logging by clicking on the View menu and then on “Toggle Log Drawer”. This will open a panel at the bottom of the application, and you will be able to see the log of your FTP connection as soon as you reconnect the FTP session.
